Derek Hale returns to his family home in Beacon Hills after being gone for 2 years. One night, Derek comes to the station to apply for the recently vacated deputy sheriff position. Stiles is in the back of the station filing paper work when the bell above the front door chimes. He jogs to the main office to help whoever’s just entered and is completely gobsmacked to see his is childhood crush standing there, smiling like he’s ridiculously pleased to see Stiles.
“Hi Stiles,” Derek says, all laugh lines and white teeth.
Stiles steps up to the counter, not trusting his voice just yet.
“It’s been a while,” Derek continues, like Stiles isn’t standing there with his mouth hanging open, eyes wide.
Stiles clears his throat and finally speaks. “Derek, it’s good to see you man. Didn’t know you where back in town.”
“I just got in yesterday,” Derek’s smile gets impossibly wider. “It hardly feels like I’ve been gone for 2 years.”
“You know Beacon Hills,” Stiles leans his elbows on the counter. “Nothing ever changes.”
“Some things look like they’ve changed,” Derek replies, eyes roaming over Stiles’s face.
Stiles feels his cheeks heat up and Derek’s smile turns into a slight smirk.
“So, what brings you here?” Stiles asks, desperately trying to change the subject.
“I’m here to apply for the deputy sheriff vacancy,” Derek answers easily.
Stiles nearly chokes on his own spit at the image his mind supplies of Derek in the uniform, gun at his hip.
Derek’s smirk grows, eyes glinting, like he knows exactly what Stiles is thinking.
“Right,” Stiles straightens up and clears his throat again. “I’ll show you to my dad’s office.”
“Thanks Stiles,” Derek’s smile is back in full force, only there’s something slightly predatory about it this time.
Stiles knows that he’s seriously screwed if Derek gets the job.

sterek baseball au: stiles stilinski dreams come true when he finally gets signed to a professional baseball team as the teams new additional pitcher. derek hale has been the teams pitcher for nearly four seasons, it’s not a far fetched idea to think that the new kid is here to replace derek. instantly there is friction between the two. stiles can’t understand why derek is being such an ass to him. derek can’t figure out why it’s so hard not to hate the kid. if you hadn’t guess, they fall in love after some shenanigans and heart to hearts and some awkward locker room glances and butt pats that turn into more of a grope tbh.
